About The Practitioner

Back2Body Massage Therapy, LLC is solely operated by Bailey Potter, LMT

The first time I received a massage I remember feeling very present, very connected to my body and the space around me. I remember thinking, "this is what I'm supposed to do."

I guess I have been practicing massage for awhile. As a kid I remember walking on my father or giving him makeovers followed by a facial massage.
Or sitting with my great grandmother and massaging her hands as she showed me her photo book.
I remember her saying, "that feels so nice."

I've always had a desire to help people. I've always loved times in my life where I help another feel truly seen and heard and when I feel heard and seen.
I have a strong passion for connection. I have a strong passion for healing. And i don't believe every persons body is the same. I think therapeutic touch and the many different modalities it offers is something this world needs more of.

I came up with the name Back2Body because I truly believe our bodies are constantly giving and receiving information. The only way we can heal and grow is if we take the time to check in. When we get out of our heads and into our bodies the system tells us what we need to do. Your wellness starts with YOU. I'm not here to heal you, I'm here to hold space for you.

Touch is the first form of communication we learn when brought into this world.

2 key factors I believe are important during a session:
ATTENTION AND INTENTION

ATTENTION: meaning my attention will be fully on you, your goals for your session, and what may come up during your session

INTENTION: Meaning my intentions will be pure, my intention will always be to listen to my client (and their body). My intention is to hold space for you, connect with you.

Attention energizes, intention transforms.

Massage to me can be a great tool to help get your body back to homeostasis. I try and create a balance between relaxing the nervous system, but also using techniques of stretching, compressions, pin and stretches, active or assisted range of motion techniques to help my client.

I also have responsibilities as a therapist, and values that I care about:
do my best for my community: means that I will always do my best to care for you. I will do my best to help and aid with the knowledge and skills I have. I will show up present and open during our sessions. That means leaving personal and professional life separate.

to advise and guide : a client to the best treatment.  In practicality this means to refer or refuse a client as appropriate. Another point that goes without saying. It’s my responsibility that a client gets the best treatment possible, even if it means referring her to someone more skilled than myself.

To set boundaries: a clients personal information and history will never be shared. whatever you share with me or comes up in the treatment room is between us. I will respect clients levels of comfort during treatment. I will never tell a client I know their body better. I will turn away a client if a client has inappropriate conduct or references.

to never discriminate a client for any reason: I do not judge, I treat and massage. It is not my place to decide what is right or wrong when it comes to other people’s beliefs, race, sex, age, sexual orientation etc. All people are equal and should be treated equally, without exception. It’s a basic human right and one to follow.

EDUCATION AND CAREER

My massage therapy journey started in 2017 at Institute for Massage Education, from there I have worked at the West Michigan Cancer Center and a sports clinic.

I have also gained training in Cupping, Prenatal Massage, Hot Stone Therapy and I'm receiving training in manual lymphatic drainage this fall.

I believe that I am forever a student so I am constantly trying to watch continuing education videos and stay updated on new massage techniques.

May you have the knowledge to know that peace is your birthright. You deserve the calmness and creative expression that comes with it. May you remember that healing and self-discovery start with YOU.
